Recombinant Human Leptin

Leptin is a neuroendocrine hormone secreted from adipose tissue that plays a key role in regulating energy intake and energy expenditure, including appetite and metabolism. Leptin is one of the most important adipose derived hormones.¹ It interacts with six types of receptors and once it binds to OBReceptor it activates the stat3, which is phosphorylated and travels to the nucleus to effect changes in gene expression. One of the main effects on gene expression is the downregulation of the expression of endocannabinoids.² High leptin levels are associated with psoriasis.³

The biological activity of Human Leptin was determined by its ability to induce proliferation of leptindependent human OBR transfected murine BaF3 cells. The expected ED₅₀ for this effect is 0.4 2 ng/ml.

This recombinant protein was 0.2 µm filtered and lyophilized from TrisHCL and NaCL pH 8.5.

This lyophilized protein is stable for six to twelve months when stored desiccated at 20°C to 70°C. After aseptic reconstitution, this protein may be stored at 2°C to 8°C for one month or at 20°C to 70°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
